Joint Commission for Dialogue between the Catholic Church & Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church held at Puthencuriz

PUTHENCURIZ: Joint Commission for Dialogue between the Catholic Church & Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church held at Patriarchal centre here yesterday. H.B Catholicos Baselios Thomas I presided over the commission. The Joint Commission decided to study the scope of co operation between both the churches in outer Kerala Dioceses to share the churches and cemeteries and extending the services of the priests in funeral services where either of the churches doesn't have parishes. The commission decided to give the priests of both the churches, a printed copy of the Marriage Arrangement formed between the churches in 1994 at Vatican and to move together against the fundamentalism, terrorism and other social evils. Bishop Dr. Gabriel Quicke (Representatives of His Holiness The Pope Benedict XVI), Arch Bishop Dr. Joseph Powathil (Co Chairman of the Commission, Arch Bishop Dr. Mathew Moolekkatt, Dr. Thomas Mar Coorilos (Syro Malankara Church), Rev. Dr. Mathew Vellanikkal, Rev. Dr. Xavier Koodappuzha, Rev. Dr. Jacob Thekkeparambil (Director, SEERI), Rev. Dr. Philip Nelpuraparambil represented the Catholic Church. His Beatitude Catholicos Baselios Thomas I, Dr. Mor Gregorios Joseph (Secretary to the Holy Episcopal Synod), Dr. Mor Themotheos Thomas, Dr. Mor Theophilose Kuriakose (Co Chairman of the Commission), Mor Aphrem Mathews, Very Rev. Dr. Adai Jacob Cor Episcopo (Principal, MSOT Seminary) and Fr. Shibu Cherian represented Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church.
